ALBANY, GA -- With a high number of homeless people in Albany, one local group is working hard to raise awareness on the issue. Mission: Change is hosting its 3rd annual Hope for the Hungry and Homeless Sleep out. Almost two hundred people are expected to  spend the night in cardboard boxes at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds.

Doug McClure is with Salvation Army. He says the Salvation Army is also participating by providing soup and drinks for the attendees. “These people are going to have the chance to see what it would be like to be in that situation. Not able to run off to a restaurant, not to run off to a place that’s comfortable, but to be outside, be served from a unit like this on a daily basis,” says McClure.

The group also holds monthly events to help the needy.
