ALBANY, GA -- Mickey Basko is thousands of miles away from where he used to call home. Basko is from California but became homeless shortly after moving to Albany. Basko has now been homeless for years, and while he says it all happened real quick- in the beginning  it left him wondering ‘why me’.

Basko says he was lost before finding the Albany Rescue Mission, and that starting over there gave him a new chance at life. “We have a 90 day program and the program gets you spiritual thinking instead of trying to get your mind off the problems that you had,” says Basko

Basko currently works in the mission’s office, eats his meals there, and goes to church there. Basko says living like that isn’t for everyone, he says he wouldn’t change it for anything.
