ALBANY, GA -- The Albany State Marching band will soon be battling other schools in Atlanta.

University officials announced Wednesday that the Marching Rams were one of 8 bands chosen to perform in the Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase. This is the fourth time  the Marching Rams have participated in the showcase.

Band Director Michael Decuir school is also awarded $20,000 for being chosen.  “We definitely need more scholarship money. That’ll help students come to Albany State. It will also help with equipment like new drums, new instruments, new amplifiers. So $20,000 will go a long way,” says Decuir.

The showcase will take place January 29, 2011 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
