Phoebe Sumter will install the last steel beam this week at the new hospital construction site

AMERICUS, GA. -- Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is very close to finishing construction on the new hospital and three support buildings.

The Women’s and Family Center, Oncology & Surgery Center, and the Wellness and Education Center are all scheduled to open at the beginning of next year. 

Construction on the new Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is expected to be done at the end of 2011. 

Hospital officials are holding a “Topping Off” ceremony November 5, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate all of the progress and the last steel bean being placed on the building. 

Community members have an opportunity to sign the beam November 2-4, 2010.
