ALBANY, GA -- Two weeks ago the Dougherty school system named an assistant superintendent, On Wednesday they named another.

Dianne Daniels got the new title.

The decision came after the board abruptly went into executive session before the school board meeting.

When they came out Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree announced agenda changes to have the board vote for Daniels' promotion.

Board chairman David Maschke was the lone person to vote against the appointment.

“My concern was that I had only gotten the material minutes before we had to vote on it and I wasn't comfortable with my understanding of the changes,” said Maschke.

Kenneth Goseer from Terrell County schools was named an assistant superintendent two weeks ago. Officials say Dougherty County will have two superintendents.
