ALBANY GA -- It's one of the most successful after school programs in Albany and it can be found at the YMCA.

Friday night they celebrated its success with the “lights on” after school open house.

Albany District Attorney Greg Edwards and Mayor pro-tem Chris Pike attended the event.

One of their aims is to make sure all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs.

“It supplements what goes on during the school day, it's an activity that parents feel like the kids are getting something out of, not only physically but socially and academically cause we also do assist them with their homework,” Said Executive Director, Dave Wallace.

The Albany area YMCA enrolls 140 children, ages 4-14 in the active afterschool program.
