Crossfit athletes compete in high intensity exercises

ALBANY GA -- Dozens of people flocked to Albany to lift, push, pull, squat, and press their way through the inaugural Crossfit “South Georgia Throwdown”.

Crossfit is a high intensity exercise program that focuses on doing a maximum amount of work in a short amount of time while incorporating cardio, weight lifting, and more.

More than 70 athletes came from multiple states and a few different Crossfit Gyms to compete in individual and team events.  Albany’s branch, World Camp Crossfit – say they host the event to test what competitors have learned and show off their skills.  Owner Kris Morrill says Crossfit is unlike any activity most people have done before.  “We ask our athletes to go through a variety of exercises and do them as fast as they can.  Basically whoever does the most work in the least amount of time will win” says Morrill.

World Camp Crossfit has been open for two years and has 150 members.
