COLQUITT COUNTY, GA -- Deputies with the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Department say a man was robbed and beaten in his home early Thursday morning.

Investigators found Timothy Summerlin covered in blood on the back porch of his home on Indian Lake Drive.

Summerlin claims a female friend called him and asked for his help to fix her car that had broken down on Highway 319 North.  Summerlin says when he was getting into his truck, a black man wearing a mask approached him, pulled a gun, and demanded money.

Deputies say the robber took Summerlin’s wallet, containing $1,600 in cash, and a cell phone.  The man then began to beat Summerlin with the gun.

Summerlin was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment. A hospital spokesperson says he was treated and released.
