ALBANY, GA -- Some more eyesores are being torn down in Albany.

Work crews demolished the first of some old, uninhabitable mobile homes this morning at Mimosa Trailer Park. The city brought in special equipment to demolish the condemned mobile home after taking the property owner to court to get permission.

Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard says several other cases are now pending and more than 30 other homes will be torn down.

“It just gives me some type of euphoria, that we are working fast at a quicker pace, that in a matter of weeks and months that we will have several of these trailers in this mimosa trailer park completely demolished,” said Howard.

Howard says the city has a list of more than 160 dilapidated properties that need to be demolished.
