Albany Technical College hosted its Fourth Annual Careers in Construction Day

ALBANY, GA -- Some Dougherty County students got a lesson in construction Thursday.

Albany Technical College hosted its Fourth Annual Careers in Construction Day. The event is geared toward eighth through twelfth graders interested in pursuing a career in the construction and energy fields.

Organizer Wayne Barnett says it’s important to keep younger generations interested in construction. “The industry has realized that all of the workers are getting older and as they get older they retire. We’re finding there are voids in the workforce of construction fields,” says Barnett.

Students learned about a variety of topics including masonry, electrical, and carpentry and could participate in various hands on demonstrations in those fields.
