Gonzalez succeeded his former boss and mentor Bobby Cox
ATLANTA -- Fredi Gonzalez has been hired as the Braves new manager and will be introduced at a news conference Thursday, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The AJC reports the 46-year-old Gonzalez will succeed his former boss and mentor Bobby Cox., who retired after 29 seasons as a major league manager, including 25 with the Braves.
Gonzalez is a native of Havana, and was the Braves' third-base coach from 2003-06.
