LEESBURG, GA -- Lee County High School students, faculty, and staff are thinking pink.

Everyone was asked to wear pink to school to promote breast cancer awareness. It’s all part of the schools philanthropy week.

Principal Kevin Dowling says it’s important to support those in the community affected by the disease. “We have a few teachers who’ve been stricken with breast cancer before and several have beaten it. One in particular beat breast cancer and very soon after it, was diagnosed with leukemia,” says Dowling.

The school raised over $1,000 Wednesday for ‘Wear Orange Wednesday;’ a tribute to leukemia. Dowling says they raised more Thursday, all of which is going to help fund cancer research.
