Students have mixed feelings about the moment of silence at this Friday's football game
LEESBURG, GA -- The Lee County High Trojans won’t be starting their football game with an announced prayer Friday night; instead there will be a moment of silence.
Lee County students have mixed feelings about the moment of silence.
Lee County High Principal Kevin Dowling says the moment of silence isn’t to stop people from praying, it’s about following the rules. “Nobody is saying you can't pray. Nobody said that whatsoever. What we said is, as a governmental institution we can’t be the ones to lead it, or endorse it, or support it. We can’t get on the P.A. and say let us pray, we just can’t do that,” says Dowling.
Some football players say they're ok with the moment of silence because they say their prayer before they’re even out of the tunnel. However some students in the stands say they’ll be taking that time to pray out loud.
