APD says thefts from vehicles at the Albany Mall are on the rise
ALBANY, GA -- Albany Police Chief John Proctor says property crimes have seen a modest decrease, however domestic violence and thefts from vehicles have seen increases.
Chief Proctor says the rate of vehicle thefts is usually higher near retail establishments simply because there are more cars in one location.
Police officers responding to theft calls from the Albany Mall parking lot say the victim often leaves their car unlocked which gives anyone access to the contents inside of the vehicle.
Chief proctor says there are simple steps you can take to keep your belongings safe. “We're asking people to lock their vehicles and put exposed property in the trunk or somewhere that is not visible to the would be thieves, and always lock your car” says Proctor.
