The Liberty House kicked off Domestic Violence Awareness month by hosting their 4th annual Butterfly Release

ALBANY GA -- Dozens of people participated in the event and released butterflies which represent change, hope, and possibility for all affected by domestic violence.

Other vendors and community resources were also on hand to support the event.

The Liberty House handled 1440 cases last year and Director Silke Deely says the organization has a lot of people to help. “Only one out of every three victims are calling us and there are a lot of people out there who need to know that there are options to violence.  They need to feel safe in their own home.  That’s why awareness of available resources is so important” says Deely.

Organizers have multiple events planned for Southwest Georgia this month to continue the awareness campaign.
