ALBANY, GA -- River Front Park was packed Saturday, as people make their way downtown for the 2010 International Festival.

The event is held to celebrate the cultural diversity in Albany and Southwest Georgia. Residents learn about other cultures through dress, food, music, arts and crafts, and dance.

Albany Convention Visitors Bureau’s Service Coordinator Theresa Smith says this year’s festival was off to a good start. “It was better than last year, greater than expected. We have two stages added this year, we have 40 plus vendors this year, so everything is wonderful today, we couldn’t ask for anything better,” says Smith.

Last year about 3,500 people attended, this year they expect closer to 5,000.
