CHATSWORTH, GA --

Authorities are investigating a plane crash in north Georgia that killed two people and seriously injured a third person.

Murray County Sheriff Howard Ensley told WRCB-TV that a Cessna SkyHawk crashed around 10:45 p.m. Friday near Highway 225 south of Chatsworth.

Witnesses said the plane circled before crashing into the ground near a driveway. Two people were killed and a third person was flown to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment. Their names were not immediately released.

Resident Barbie Cochran said the plane came through her son's yard and hit some trees while her children were playing hide-and-seek.

Records show the plane took off from Florida and was headed to Chattanooga, Tenn.
