ALBANY, GA -- Some college kids may sleep in during the morning but these students were up early to visit senior citizens.

Albany State University football players held a cookout for residents at the Palmyra Nursing Home on Friday. They served hamburgers, lemonade and iced tea among other barbeque favorites. The residents were ready for the team, sporting their best Golden Rams gear.

Some players had family in nursing homes before and felt inspired to visit residents.

“I just feel like it’s always good to just really help put a smile on somebody’s face. You never know; it could make their day,” says ASU football player Lironnie Davis.

The ASU Golden Rams will be playing against Savannah State University on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 25.
