Witnesses say the patient punched the doctor in the face, knocking him down, and punched him several more times in the face
A Moultrie man was arrested after he knocked out a hospital doctor Tuesday afternoon. 35-year-old Shawn Ugene Jones was charged with simple battery.
MOULTRIE, GA --
A Moultrie police officer was called to Turning Point Hospital on South Veterans Parkway about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday about a patient fighting with personnel. The officer was requested by a Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy, and the officer found the patient, identified as Jones, allegedly knocked out Claude Luke, a physician at the hospital. Witnesses stated Jones punched Luke in the face, knocking him down, and punched him several more times in the face.
When the deputy arrived, Jones was seen walking to the front door but turned around and was placed under arrest. As he was being taken to a patrol car, Jones stated he just snapped because he was told the hospital could not help him any more.
Luke was treated at the scene by Colquitt County EMS, and Jones was taken to Colquitt County Jail.
