Keown links Bishop/Pelosi/Obama
ALBANY, GA -- Supporters and a lot of red hats greeted U.S. congressional candidate Mike Keown as he stepped off the ‘Fire Pelosi’ bus.
The bus tour began last week, targeting key districts in the GOP’s push to win the 39 seats needed to wrest control from the Democrats and oust Nancy Pelosi from her job as House Speaker.
Keown faces nine-term Democratic incumbent Sanford Bishop, considered vulnerable because of his support for a President with sagging approval ratings and close ties to Pelosi.
"The fact that Sanford Bishop is so close to Nancy Pelosi in his voting record – he voted 97.7% of the time with her – the fact that he voted more with her than Barney Frank is, I think, an indication of how far he’s gotten away from the South Georgia roots," said Keown.
The theme of the day may have been ‘Fire Pelosi’ and the upcoming election will undoubtedly serve as a referendum on President Obama and his administration. But Mike Keown and his supporters did their best to de-nationalize the campaign and remind South Georgians why they should vote for a change in November.
"We need someone to represent our values and what we’re about and agriculture, in particular, needs a strong person to be there," said RNC National Committeman Alec Poitevint.
"If we had somebody who was really representing us in Southwest Georgia, I think it would have been a definite ‘no’ vote on cap and trade, a definite ‘no’ on Obamacare," said Keown.
