APD hosted a free gun safety class with in class and gun range lessons

ALBANY GA -- The Albany Police Department hosted a free gun education class for local gun owners.

The first half of the class consisted of classroom instruction where participants learned all about federal and state laws that regulate guns and gun owner rights.  The second half of the class the instructors took the class outside for target practice.

Deputy Chief Mark Scott says a gun class is helpful for new gun owners as well as gun owners who need a refresher course.  “The training is just like any other piece of equipment you may have.  It’s harder to use something safely if you don’t know how it works.  So we’re happy to teach gun owners about their guns so they can be responsible carriers” says Scott.

If you would like to participate in the next gun education class call the Albany Police Department at 229-431-2100.
