A Lee County middle school did its part to promote healthy living and fight obesity

LEESBURG, GA -- A Lee County middle school did its part to promote healthy living and fight obesity.

1,000 miles was the goal in this year's National Run at Work Day at Twin Oaks Elementary in Leesburg. Each student was asked to complete at least one mile.

Physical Education teacher Ginger Morris says it's also part of the school's 'focus five' initiative, promoting leadership, integrity, wisdom, community, and in this case, strength. “We're promoting health and wellness just let students know you can have fun going out walking. Walking with your parents or friends,” says Morris.

Parents were also welcome to walk with their kids. Last year the school completed 881 miles. This year the teachers, students, and their families completed 1,775 miles.
