ALBANY, GA -- It's that time of the year again -- time for the flu shot.

On Tuesday the Dougherty County, along with all offices in the Southwest Georgia Public Health District began giving this year's flu shot.

And it’s in more powerful form -- 2 doses in one -- made to protect against two separate viruses.

”This year the h1n1 is added into the regular seasonal flu vaccine so you won't have to get two separate vaccines this year,” said immunization coordinator Suzette Profit.

Aside from getting the typical shot in the arm, this is the first year the county is giving a mist version of the season flu vaccine.

The Flumist is administered nasally and is only recommended for people between the ages of 2 to 49. It is just as effective as getting the shot.

“It’s a live version of the shot particularly for our young kids,” said Profit.

The vaccination at district offices cost $25 dollars.
