Public Works assures the public that trash will still be picked up
ALBANY, GA -- Public Works is encountering more overdue bills and they want to assure the public they will still pick up trash.
If a location isn’t vacant Public Works will still pick up garbage by ordinance. They recognize that it would be a health hazard and an ordinance violation not to pick up trash for locations delinquent with bill payment.
Albany Public Works Director Phil Roberson says they try to work with people and businesses who get behind on bills. “If it’s a temporary loss of service we’ll continue to pick the barrel up and then when treasury collects the bad debt we get a portion of it. But unless the house becomes vacant we pick the 90 gallon barrel up and continue to give service” says Roberson.
Public Works says if a location is vacant they will remove the barrel until someone else loves or occupies the residence.
