Nearly 3,000 people attend the first annual Funk Fest at the Albany Civic Center

ALBANY, GA -- The first annual Southern Funk Fest featured dancing, a comedy performance by Michael Colyar, and musical performances by Cameo, Morris Day and The Time, and Lakeside.

Event Coordinator Sonja Brown says it’s important to make sure Southwest Georgians of a certain age group have fun activities to participate in year round.  “The group in the 35 to 55 year old age range want old school entertainment, so we put together a show to reflect that” says Brown.

Organizers say they plan on hosting the event again next year.
