The American Red Cross is encouraging all residents to donate blood
ALBANY, GA -- The American Red Cross is reaching out to residents for help. The donor center is looking for people to come out and donate blood over the holiday weekend.
In the Southern Region, there has been a 17% decrease in donations this summer meaning there is now a critical need for blood donors.
American Red Cross Nurse Cecilia Johnson says holidays are slower than any other time for donations. “Because people have other things to do. You know we have more people out on the road traveling on holidays; less people donate because they are busy. So it’s very important for people to donate during holiday time,” Says Johnson
Officials say donors can be in and out of the center in about 30 minutes. The Albany American Red Cross Donor Center is located at 1515 Dawson Road.
