ALBANY, GA -- Albany Police Department Media Manager Phyllis Banks-Whitley was arrested last Saturday and charged with battery of a minor.

Banks reportedly hit her 16-year-old daughter with a shoe that caused a large contusion on her daughter’s head.

Banks was not at work for a week following the incident as she was on paid administrative leave.

District Attorney Greg Edwards says the condition of dropping the misdemeanor charges is that counseling be successfully completed.

Banks is expected to return to work Tuesday September 7, 2010.
