One intersection in the unincorporated area of Dougherty County is causing concern

ALBANY, GA. -- Karen Parr went before county commissioners Monday saying the intersection is unsafe because there is no clear direction on which drivers are supposed to yield.

Two motorcycle wrecks have happened at the intersection this month – one person was killed.

Karen Parr says she just wants to make the area safer.  “I’m concerned about everyone that travels through there.  We have a lot of marine base traffic, people commuting back and forth from other counties to Albany to work, and it just needs to be safer” says Parr.

Commissioners agreed to convert the red light request to a flashing light request.

County Administrator Richard Crowdis say GDOT, Georgia Department of Transportation, may respond quicker to that type of request.
