Police say the suspect doubled back and hopped into a police cruiser that had the keys still in it
ALBANY, GA. (AP) -- Albany police are looking for a burglary suspect who made off with one of their police cars during a chase.
Authorities say they were chasing Frederick Thomas after reports of a burglary at One Stop Food Store Tuesday.
During the chase, police say Thomas doubled back and hopped into a police cruiser that had the keys still in it, and took off.
A tracking device installed on the cruiser helped authorities find it a little while later, but they didn't locate Thomas.
Albany Police are investigating whether any policies were violated by the officer who left the keys in the car.
