Tift County has over 700 child abuse cases, according to Tifton Gazette report
TIFT COUNTY, GA. -- A report in the Tifton Gazette newspaper on Wednesday says Tift County ranks third in Georgia for most child abuse cases. That report says over 700 cases of child abuse and neglect were reported in Tift County in 2009. The date is from the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
A worker with Open Arms in Albany says it’s scary that this is so close to Dougherty County.
“That’s hitting close to home. We’re near and they have sexual predators who’s in the area and that’s close by. So it gives you a little fright,” says Open Arms liaison Tiffany Mallard.
Mallard says street outreach is the best was to prevent more child abuse cases.
