ALBANY, GA. -- Several dozen students from Southwest Georgia came to Darton College today to learn about bioscience.

Students from Darton, Albany StateAlbany Tech and some high schools listened to seminars from local workers in the field.

Organizers say advancements in bio-science are vital, particularly when it comes to health.

“Biotechnology is loosely defined as the manipulation of a plant or an animal, any organism and putting it to the use for humans,” said Darton College professor Dr. Josie Moore.

It wasn't just listening to scientists. Students who came out Wednesday also got to take part in a DNA workshop.
