Police say they also have received a tip that possible gang violence related to the shooting is in the makings for Friday night

CORDELE, GA. -- The alleged gunman in an Aug. 5 shooting in Cordele is jailed on multiple charges.

Cordele police say 17-year-old Kenyattos Jackson shot 16-year-old Douglas Lloyd in the Sunset Homes area,  Public Safety Director Dwayne Orrick said Lloyd, who was struck in the shoulder by a bullet that also hit his spine and thus left him paralyzed, was not the intended target.

"The vehicle in which Lloyd was riding was to have been the target instead," said Orrick.

Charges against Jackson include carrying a pistol without a license, gang violence, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, aggravated battery, affray and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police say they also have received a tip that possible gang violence related to the shooting is in the makings for Friday night.

Lt. Lloyd Anderson said he was told that members of the “Ride or Die (ROD) Gang” are planning to fire shots into an apartment in the 1300 block of 13th St. in retaliation for Lloyd being targeted.
