The stolen items are easily sold and traded

ALBANY, GA. -- The Dougherty County police are working on a string of thefts in residential areas.

The thieves have been stealing lawn equipment, tools, and batteries from garages and around the outsides of homes.

The items are targeted because they can be easily sold or traded.

The police say there are simple steps you can take to protect your belongings.

“Your best system of defense is take care of your property, mark it where it’s identifiable, keep it locked up when you’re not using it,” said Chief Don Cheek of the Dougherty County Police Department.

If you have any information on the thefts, call Crimestoppers.
