ALBANY, GA -- Some Dougherty County students had a surprise guest on their bus ride home Thursday. School Superintendent Dr.  Joshua Murfree sat alongside some Sherwood Elementary students. Murfree went along for the ride to see first-hand how a student's day comes to an end.

Murfree says he wants students to stay focused on school, even on bus rides. “She has her young people talking about the work that they've done that day and it kept them focused. As a matter of fact when you saw that on the bus, they were actually focused on their work,” says Murfree.

Murfree says keeping students focused on their work creates a safer environment on the buses.
