ALBANY, GA. -- It was an emotional service Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church. The congregation met with heavy hearts, one day after fellow member Walter Phelps died.
Phelps was the business owner of P&P Garden and Hardware. He was shot while he was working on July 3.
Calvary Baptist Church pastor Chip Gresham was close friends with Phelps and said he had a hard time delivering his sermon.
“It was a very difficult day. I had a feeling of dread before I came here today and I know that God worked and he worked it out. So I am thankful for that,” said Gresham.
Five people have been arrested in connection with Phelps’ shooting. It is unclear if any of them will now face murder charges.
