The American Legion post 30 held a ceremony Saturday morning to honor prisoners of war and those who went missing in action, while defending our country

ALBANY, GA -- It was a powerful day for war veterans in Albany. The American Legion Post 30 held a ceremony Saturday morning to honor prisoners of war and those who went missing in action, while defending our country.

One thousand black balloons were released and a 21 cannon salute was performed in honor of those who defended our country and never returned home.

Organizer Ray Humphrey with post 30 says the ceremony is a great way to remember those who went missing. “Just a tribute to them for all the people who've been lost or captured and not returned home since the beginning of the Revolutionary War. They were all Americans, they all served their country, and they all passed for the same reason” says Humphrey.

Post 30 is hoping to make this an annual event.
