ALBANY, GA -- Law enforcement agencies throughout the area are gearing up for this year's National Night Out. This is the third year the Dougherty County Police Department has teamed up with other agencies for the event. Baggies of school supplies are already in the works for students to take home.

Food, drinks, and games will be on hand for residents, but Captain Jimmy Sexton says the celebration is also meant to send a message to criminals. “We’re not going to allow them to rule the night” says Sexton. “We’re going to go out and celebrate and work together to try to stop crime.”

Officials say the celebration wouldn't be possible without the help and donations from local businesses. National Night Out is this Friday at Radium Springs Middle School from 5 to 8 p.m.
