ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta police are searching for a suspect they say escaped from a patrol car.

Police say the unidentified man escaped Sunday afternoon. They're not saying why the man was in custody.

Officers say someone apparently let the handcuffed man out of the back of the police cruiser.

The man was the second suspect to escape in metro Atlanta over the weekend.

A shoplifting suspect escaped from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Cobb County while wearing waist chains and leg irons Friday night.

Marietta police spokesman Michael Gardner says Maurice Sealy was taken to the hospital after complaining of shortness of breath. He broke away while being escorted to a prisoner transport van and was recaptured a few hours later.
