Abandoned house catches fire on W. Society Ave.

ALBANY, GA. -- An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at an abandoned house in Albany.

Firefighters got on scene on the 700 block of west Society Avenue and made quick work of the small fire.

They say a sofa was burning in the front of the house.

“It was contained to the living room area some of the walls and fascia around the doors received some damage,” Captain Tony Denby of the Albany Fire Department.

It took only a couple of minutes to put out the flames. Firefighters say they don't know what caused the fire.
