SYLVESTER, GA. -- Family, friends, and safety officials gathered for a memorial service to honor the 10th anniversary of the Life Flight crash that tool the lives of three Southwest Georgians.

The memorial service took place at Jefford’s Park in Sylvester, Georgia and honored pilot Bart Bradshaw, flight nurse Renee Chapman, and paramedic Michael “Stick” Elam.

Guest speakers shared their thoughts and fondest memories of all three heroes.  At the end of the service a new monument was revealed to celebrate their lives, service, and dedication to community.

Alison Peugh who helped organize the monument effort says today was a special day.  “The monument that we put up here is going to stay for a while.  Hopefully everyone will be able to look at it and see that they are always in our hearts and minds” says Peugh.

The monument has all three names on it, a picture of a helicopter, and a quote from Stick saying “If I die doing what I loved, then I would have loved the way I died”
