AUSTELL, GA. (AP) -- Authorities say the second of two girls injured in a lightning strike last week has died.

Police say 15-year-old Theresa Seaburn had been hospitalized since she and her cousin, Shaquille Hunter, were injured on July 13. Police say lightning struck a tree the two were standing beneath.

Emergency workers transported the girls to Grady Memorial Hospital, where Hunter later died. Police say Seaburn died Wednesday at the hospital.

Powerful storms dropped heavy rain and caused lightning throughout the metro Atlanta region on July 13.
