CONYERS, GA. (AP) -- Some Conyers kids have joined a small group of students across the nation who have had a chance to teleconference with three astronauts orbiting some 200 miles above the Earth in the International Space Station.
Wednesday, a few hundred middle schoolers, parents and teachers gathered in the auditorium of Conyers Middle School to chat with the astronauts about things like how fast the station travels and how they prepare for launch.
Officials say Conyers is one of just five schools in the nation to partake in the agency's Teaching From Space program.
Sixth grade science teacher Vanessa Carter wrote a proposal to NASA six months ago and sold the idea.
