Community leaders and residents joined forces today to keep local rivers clean
ALBANY, GA -- Community leaders and residents joined forces today to keep local rivers clean. It was all part of the fourth annual Rivers Alive clean up. About fifty people helped clean the Middle Kinchafoonee Creek. Other groups also cover the Lower Kinchafoonee Creek, the Muckalee Creek, and the Flint River.
Volunteer Amy Bacon says the annual clean up is an eye opener. “They don't realize what their leaving behind. So when you’re going down the river and you find things, you realize what it does to the environment. So we want to keep it beautiful for other when they want to come and have a good time” says Bacon.
Canoes, Paddles, and life jackets were just a few of the necessities at this year’s Rivers alive clean up. Before all the volunteers even hit the water, they found enough trash to fill an entire bag.
