MCDONOUGH, GA. (AP) -- The family of a McDonough man who died at a Florida beach last week says he was trying to rescue children when he drowned.

Family members say 42-year-old Darin McGahey was in Pensacola for a Little League baseball tournament.

He was an assistant coach for the Locust Grove Razorbacks. His brother, Jeff McGahey, says some of his young players were caught in the surf and he managed to rescue a few of them before he drowned at Navarre Beach Wednesday.

He is survived by his wife and three children.
