ALBANY, GA. -- Police nab two suspects after they tried to rob a Family Dollar with a hostage in tow.

Police responded to the 1000 block of West Gordon Avenue around 6:00 p.m., where officials say they saw two suspects exiting the Family Dollar store with a hostage. That hostage was a female employee. Officers gave commands to drop their weapons and turn themselves in, but the suspects did not comply.  That's when officers decided to open fire. They struck one suspect in the abdomen. The two then fled, leaving the hostage, weapons and other items behind. Cops caught up with the two suspects. The injured suspect was taken to an area hospital; the other suspect is in custody. We're told there were ten people inside the store at the time this all happened.

GBI is also investigating.
