The Dougherty County Public Works Committee discusses new rules and regulations for parks

ALBANY, GA. -- The commission is forming new rules to have more consistency across the four public parks.

Officials say during the summertime there are more people using the parks and they want to clarify the rules for who gets the tables and covered shelters.

Public Works Director Larry Cook says they want to clarify any potential issues now so there are no future problems.  “What we’re trying to do is set up a fee structure for reserving the covered areas.  This isn’t a usage fee.  If you want to reserve it for a specific need the fee will give us the chance to hold that park area for you.  Other than that it’s still going to be first come first serve.” says Cook.

The new park rules won’t take effect until the Dougherty County Commissioners approve it.
