The Georgia Department of Public Safety releases final numbers for Independence Day related incidents

Holiday traffic accident stats are in

ALBANY, GA. -- During the Fourth of July holiday weekend the state of Georgia had 2,648 crashes, 699 injuries, and 10 deaths.

The official prediction was for 2,072 crashes, 999 injuries, and 18 deaths.

Officials hope that if they publicize the number of traffic incidents it will help make people more aware of how they drive.
