ALBANY, GA -- Residents are celebrating the Fourth of July a little early at the Marine Corps Logistics Base. MCLB is holding its sixteenth annual Independence celebration Friday. About twelve thousand people attended last year’s celebration.
Lieutenant Kyle Thomas says having the event two days early gives residents two chances to celebrate the 4th of July. “We didn’t want to have ours the same day the city was having theirs” says Thomas. “We wanted everyone in the region to enjoy both. So today we have a lot of food, a lot of entertainment for the family and of course we’ve also got fireworks.”
Thomas says what better way to celebrate the 4th than with the Marines who give us our independence.
