Authorities in Henry County say two teenagers were struck by lightning during a thunderstorm and were taken to a hospital.

MCDONOUGH, GA. (AP) -- Officials say the 14-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl were hit by lightning Tuesday night in McDonough as storms passed through the south portion of metro Atlanta. The teens were taken to Henry Medical Center, and their conditions have not been released.

UPDATE
Authorities in Henry County say two teenagers were struck by lightning during a thunderstorm, and one of them has died.

Henry County Coroner Greg Cannon said Wednesday that 14-year-old Eric West died during the night at Henry Medical Center.

West was one of two teenagers struck by lightning in McDonough Tuesday night as storms passed through the south portion of metro Atlanta. Authorities say the other victim was a 15-year-old girl. She also was taken to Henry Medical Center. Her identity and condition have not been released.
