High School students from around Southwest Georgia came to Albany State University today to take part in this year’s Upward Bound 2010 Olympics

ALBANY, GA. -- The annual event is an educational activity that allows students to showcase their academic skills in science, math, reading, arts and physical education.

Albany State Organizer Leslie Charles says the games are meant to bring students together for a day of fun competition. “It’s a chance for students to bond with each other, find new friends across Southwest Georgia. So it’s something that’s exciting for them and at the same time it’s educational” says Charles.

The Summer Olympics Program has been around for more than two decades. Students can take part in competitions like sporting events, a spelling bee, or fine art competitions.
